The 26th of July to 2nd of August is DonateLife Week, a Commonwealth national awareness week initiative to promote organ and tissue donation, which can be a life changing gift.
Currently there are 16,000 Australians waiting for a life- saving transplant. Sydney Adventist Hospital's cardiothoracic surgeon Dr Emily Granger, who was among the pioneers of the 'Heart in a Box' surgery, knows only too well the amazing impact that donating an organ such as a heart can have.
