Former San Hospital CEO Leon Clark portrait
Former San Hospital CEO Dr Leon Clark has been amongst the recent patrons of the on-site God of Hope Art Exhibition and took the chance to revisit the portrait of him done by revered artist Andy Collis.
Appropriately positioned on a wall of the Clark Tower, the portrait plaque that accompanies the artwork shares his thoughts about the Hospital Mission which was clarified during his leadership.
“I have been humbled professionally, and inspired personally, by the opportunity to influence expert individuals who touch the lives of patients entrusted to our core “ he says.
“More than delivering physical and spiritual well-being, the San offers hope as a living example of Christ’s message of health and healing. I’m incredibly proud how our people live out the San’s mission: Christianity in Action.”
Dr Clark’s roles at Sydney Adventist Hospital included Visiting Gynaecologist, Medical Executive Officer, Chief Executive officer, and Group Chief Executive Officer of Adventist HealthCare.
He was a pioneer in his chosen sub-specialty of In Vitro Fertilisation, President of the Fertility Society of Australia, the Founding Chairman of the IVF Directors Group and was honoured as IVF Director of the Year in 1992. Other appointments included President of the Australian Private Hospital Association, board member of Hamlin Fistula Australia, The Novus Foundation, the Medi-Aid Centre Foundation, the Clinical Excellence Commission, the NSW Agency for Clinical Innovation, and the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards.
The milestone redevelopment Clark Tower, which opened in 2014 at the San, making the San NSW’s largest single campus private hospital, is named in recognition of his outstanding leadership and vision.
The portrait can be viewed on level 4 outside the Surgical Centre.
