Celebrating National Volunteers Week 2020

The San is blessed to have more than 500 dedicated Volunteers who volunteer helping patients, staff and community.

Much loved, the ‘yellow shirts’ Volunteer team provide invaluable resources to create a special ambience across the hospital.

Their hospital involvement includes assisting nursing staff on the wards with non-medical activities, serving in our San Snax Café, greeting and assisting hospital patients and visitors on arrival and discharge, supporting patients and community members who use the facilities of Jacaranda Lodge and the Cancer Support Centre, assisting with activities of the Spiritual Care Services as Volunteer Chaplains, and supporting office staff with time consuming and needed administrative tasks.

The majority of the San Volunteers commit to a minimum of one four-hour shift per week. The hospital benefits enormously from the dedication and longevity of the San Volunteers who truly love and support the hospital.

We miss having our volunteers around the hospital and cannot wait for their return.

We want to celebrate all our volunteers during Volunteer Week 2020 even while they cannot be here with us.

This week, reflecting all their wonderful Volunteer colleagues, a few will be profiled.

Monday - Meet Rosemary Taylor, San Volunteer for 35 years

Tuesday - Meet Judy Vipond, San Volunteers for 30 years
